President Biden nails it
Try as they might, the GOP just cannot take President Biden down. Some appear to have given up, but the insanity of others’ wild claims and conspiracy theories is in the forefront and has become self-destructive (i.e., Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson). Fox News constantly attacks Democrats and “the left.” But President Biden? Not so much lately.
Fox News host Harris Faulkner even described Biden as “iconic” and Biden’s words at a recent memorial to be those of “kindness and empathy that he does so well. He is iconic at it. He is so present and so kind.”
Maybe sane Republicans realize their false attacks on Biden’s popularity just make them look bad, and they’re waiting for something good to legitimately attack him for. If so, it’s not going to be the catastrophic depression Trump predicted would happen, while he refused to acknowledge we were so obviously in a depression already.
Instead, President Biden keeps getting good news, and has maintained high approval ratings (including support for his proposed corporate tax hikes). According to the International Monetary Fund, the rebounding economy is headed for its best year since 1984. It likely expanded at a 6% annual rate during the first quarter, and should accelerate in the months ahead. More than 1.3 million jobs have been added.
Biden is also outperforming Trump by his own favorite metric — the stock market –gaining 16% since Biden’s election, beating Trump’ for that same period by 5.5 points.
The GOP’s efforts to even put a dent into Biden’s popular support are complicated by Trump’s wild campaign claims of an imminent depression, while the total opposite has happened. Trump’s usual fabricated boasting in his recent Sean Hannity interview, claiming he “built the strongest economy in the history of the world,” while only leveling scattered charges against Biden, simply rang hollow.
Republicans have become all about opposition and obstruction, using propaganda, fear and hate-mongering for so long, it appears their majority is incapable of operating in a more favorable manner. The GOP has become worse than a dog without a bone — they’ve simply gone to the dogs.
