Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is a bit reminiscent of an immature teenager who’s not quite all there cognitively or otherwise. She’s certainly not qualified for the task of being a member of Congress, so of course this makes her welcome in the ranks of the sedition caucus and QAnon party. She doesn’t appear to know the difference between a deadly riot and a non-violent protest, or at least she doesn’t care when a bunch of far-right white people riot at the Capitol as they did on January 6th. But when people in Minnesota and elsewhere protest to draw attention to the plight of our Black compatriots, that’s just a line too far for Boebert.

This week, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) visited Minnesota and voiced her support of the important protests for racial justice. This did not sit well with Boebert, who took to Twitter and asked “why is Maxine Waters traveling to a different state trying to incite a riot?” Of the protests, Rep. Waters had said that “they’ve got to know that we mean business.” Waters is correct that we must continue to speak out strongly against injustices, and her encouraging words are certainly not inciteful of riots or violence.

Boebert, however, has a good deal in common with the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol in January and left death and destruction in their wake. She does not take issue with aggrieved white folks hoodwinked about the election who violently attack our seat of government. If Boebert wants to talk about inciting riots, let’s start with her support for the attack at the Capitol earlier this year and what connections she may have had to any of the insurgents. Apparently, Boebert doesn’t like protests unless they’re brimming with white people with nefarious right-wing agendas.
