Matt Gaetz just burst the QAnon bubble

QAnon is alive and well and living in lunacy. As comedian George Carlin said, “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.” But the Q people have a pesky little problem coming their way. And that problem is one Matt Gaetz. (Insurrection Party-Florida.)

One of the supposed core focuses of Q is stopping child pornography and human trafficking. After all, these are the same folks who were apparently convinced Hillary Clinton was working a pedophile ring out of a pizza restaurant. So what will happen if a Trumper is indicted on these kinds of charges? How will the members of Q rationalize this? I have a few thoughts.

First off, it’s important to remember that these Q members essentially blame the “deep state” for just about everything. Trump lost the election? Deep State. Hillary’s emails were never found? Deep State. I lost my sock in the laundry — Deep State. You get the picture.

So it is possible, even probable, that the QAnon folks will undoubtedly blame the deep state for the Gaetz problems as well. How they will do that becomes a bit tricky because this investigation started under the Trump administration, not the Biden administration.

But they will have an answer for that. Bill Barr was part of the deep state, they will say. He was working against Trump all along! It is all so clear. Nobody can be trusted except, of course, Donald Trump.

These defense mechanisms are the way cults react. The world is saturated with cults, and QAnon happens to be one of them, although their members are blissfully unaware of this. So, do not expect these folks to see the light even if Gaetz is brought up on charges. Q, like any cult, is not based in reality. They exist in hypocrisy. The only ones who do not see it are their own members.
