John Cornyn hits the panic button
Senator John Cornyn is overtly racist and xenophobic even by Republican standards. He reminded everyone of this yet again this morning when he criticized President Biden for his “humane treatment of immigrants.” That’s right, Cornyn doesn’t think immigrants should even be treated like humans.
One gets the sense that Cornyn is now afraid he may have finally taken his rhetoric too far. After spending all morning taking heat for his remark, Cornyn has now sent a letter to Biden this afternoon, urging that immigrants be “treated fairly and humanely.”
Wait a minute, isn’t that exactly what John Cornyn was criticizing this morning? That’s right, Cornyn is now flip flopping already, suggesting that he’s hitting the panic button about how poorly this is playing out for him. Based on his history, Cornyn surely doesn’t regret his xenophobic sentiment; he merely regrets that it’s blowing back on him.
