Everyone piles on Mitch McConnell
Here’s the thing about being Senate Minority Leader. It’s an essentially powerless position, where the only thing you can do is loudly whine while the other side gets its way. Or in the case of newly demoted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, all he can do is loudly lie.
McConnell posted this almost incoherent tweet aimed at ginning up a phony Biden scandal: “Why did President Biden tell Americans to wait until July 4th to gather in ways that cities, states, and the CDC approve right now? Why did he present a million vaccines per day as a personal ‘Mission Accomplished’ moment when it’s simply the pace Democrats inherited in January?”
McConnell is lying about what Biden said about the Fourth of July, he’s lying about current CDC guidelines, and he’s lying about the pace of vaccines in January. Basically every word of this tweet is a lie, except for the part where he accurately referred to Biden as the President.
No one was having any of it. Mitch McConnell quickly got pummeled with thousands of replies, correcting the facts and calling him out on his whiny lies. Also, as some pointed out, the infamous “Mission Accomplished” moment was a Republican debacle. McConnell really doesn’t know what to do with himself now that he’s in the minority. No wonder there’s so much buzz about him quitting before the end of his current six year term.
