Ted Lieu drops the hammer on credit-stealing House Republican
In this era we’ve repeatedly watched Republicans in Congress lie about what’s in legislation, lie about what legislation does, and lie about who will be impacted by that legislation. It’s become par for the course. But now we’re seeing a new twist: Republicans lying about which way they just finished voting on something.
Take, for instance, this new tweet from Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar:
🚨 #BREAKING 🚨
So proud to announce that the Biden Administration has just implemented my bipartisan COVID relief bill as part of @SBAgov policy!

Based on her tweet, you’d be almost sure to conclude that she voted for the COVID relief bill. For that matter, if you’d never heard of her, you might even conclude that she’s a Democrat. But no, she’s one of the House Republicans who unanimously voted against this bill, which was just signed into law a few days ago.
Congressman Ted Lieu was having none of it: “Dear @RepMariaSalazar: You voted against it. You voted NO on your own legislation. But thanks for highlighting some of the great small business provisions in the American Rescue Plan, which every Republican Member of Congress opposed.”
At this point Republicans and their agenda are so unpopular, they’re resorting to pretending they voted for Democratic legislation, and even seemingly pretending they are Democrats. We can’t let them get away with it.
