We’ve all seen major media outlets report that Roger Stone was closely coordinating with the Oath Keepers group on and around January 6th, which took place in the domestic terrorist attack against the Capitol. We’ve all been waiting for the next shoe to drop, and now it has.

Oath Keepers member Robert Minuta was arrested today. He stands accused of an unspecified criminal role in the January 6th attack, according to the New York Times. This is a big deal because Minuta was provided “security” for Roger Stone around the time of the attack. This arrest doesn’t prove Stone guilty; for that matter it doesn’t prove Minuta guilty. But it could set off a chain of events.

Based on how these things usually go, the Feds will likely push Minuta hard to flip on Roger Stone, to the point of potentially offering him a highly lenient plea deal. That’s because Stone is a key target, and it’ll be much quicker and easier to prove his guilt with an inside witness than with an external investigation. Of course Stone would then likely be pressured to flip on Donald Trump or whatever biggest fish might have been involved in coordinating the attack.

It’s important to note that while Trump did give Roger Stone a blanket pardon in late December for a variety of federal crimes, that pardon does not cover crimes that Stone committed after it was issued. So if Stone’s associate flips on him, Stone may have no other option but to flip on Trump if he wants to try to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison.
