Democrats got the job done today while Republicans melted down about Mr. Potato Head

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Biden’s COVID Relief bill has passed in the Senate with a vote of 50-49. It was entirely along party lines. Senator Manchin did vote with the Democrats, as we knew he would. The 1.9 trillion dollar bill now goes back to the House for their vote. It will pass. And then President Biden will sign it into office.

The bill includes $1,400 checks (to add to the existing $600 checks) as well as the extension of unemployment benefits. These benefits were set to expire very shortly (Mid March), so this bill comes in time.

The Senate was hard at work all night. They debated the bill. This process is called Vote-a-rama and it went all night. At the end of the day, though, the bill cleared the Senate. And this is great news.

However, not one Republican voted with the Democrats. It seems incredible to say that, but it’s the truth. No Romney, no Murkowski, no Collins. Democrats were on their own with this one. And this will help us greatly in the midterms. As Republicans continue to agonize over life-changing issues like Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head, the Democrats undoubtedly helped save the lives of many people with this bill.
