Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley get lambasted by their former professor
Last January, William N. Eskridge, Jr., a law professor who taught Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley at Harvard and Yale, respectively, wrote an article about them after their’ lies and hateful rhetoric helped inflame and cause the January 6th insurrection, yet they still objected to the election results thereafter, drawing criticism far and wide. Eskridge’s article was full of legal jargon and mostly boring.
But he spoke up again recently, and had some more interesting things to say, including how “thoroughly disgusted” he was by their “reprehensible behavior” and language. He also described them as always being politically ambitious, and said they were knowingly lying about Trump’s bogus claims of election fraud, making legal arguments that they both well knew simply could not hold water but their constituents would believe, all for their own political gain, Country and Democracy be damned. But their similarities as he described them ended there.
He said Cruz was a very smart and memorable student, but wasn’t very popular. Perhaps this explains why Cruz’s speech at CPAC appeared to be more of an attempted comedy act. Maybe he wanted to spew lies and hateful propaganda, yet still be well-liked? Unfortunately, he was the only good joke, from what I saw of it.
And why was Cruz screaming? The only comedian I recall that ever working for is Sam Kinison. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but was Cruz actually trying to channel a fat guy with an affinity tor porn stars? (Oh yeah, that’s Trump – without the sense of humor, so it fits.) It is also possible that Cruz was just being crazy like a fox, figuring if anything he said at CPAC came back to haunt him, he could just claim he was joking.
The professor described Hawley to be the total opposite of Cruz – not a very memorable student, but popular and well-liked. Unfortunately, it does not appear that the popularity lasted, but joining the white nationalist party can do that to you. He’s apparently worried he hasn’t handled things in a very smart manner either, since he keeps appearing to look like he thinks he may be arrested at any moment during the recent Congressional hearings on the insurrection.
These two no doubt still have big plans to run for President, and both appear to dream of being the next Trump. But it is baffling to me that two Ivy League grads would want to take playing dumb that far, especially considering that Trump would have no chance in hell of getting through even a semester of law at Harvard or Yale. They do all three have the barf-factor in spades, though.
