Good news for Merrick Garland

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Merrick Garland’s nomination for Attorney General advanced out of committee today by a wide margin. His full Senate hearing is next, it’ll be done within a matter days, and he’s a lock for confirmation. Obstructionist Republicans succeeded in slowing it down, but they’ve lost the war. Garland will be Attorney General soon.

It’s interesting to look at which Republican Senators on the committee voted against Merrick Garland. Ben Sasse was probably just trying to “both sides” it, like the fake moderate that he is. Tom Cotton is a clown. But Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz are probably worried that there’s at least some chance Garland’s Department of Justice will end up criminally investigating them for their role in the January 6th insurrection.

– Tweet of the day, from U.S. Navy veteran Stevie Joe Payne: “We had a late breakfast at the IHOP yesterday and a man facing me, eating alone, didn’t like my Black Lives Matter shirt and kept looking up at me showing his displeasure. I imagine he had a miserable breakfast. I had a wonderful breakfast.”
