Total chaos

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has proven that he’s too afraid to oust either Liz Cheney or Marjorie Taylor Greene, so he’s going to let them both eat him alive. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell can’t even rally his caucus to convict the ghost of a fully destroyed Donald Trump, even though they all know it would be the best thing for the survival of the party.

We’re seeing total chaos within the Republican Party right now. They don’t control any aspect of the federal government. They either have no one who’s willing to lead, or no one they’re willing to listen to. They’re too busy causing problems for themselves and each other to have any real focus at all, let alone to try to compete with the Democrats for the hearts and minds of the American mainstream.

Contrast this with the fact that the Democrats control the White House, the Senate, and the House. President Biden is continuing to have the support of about two-thirds of the American people on his major initiatives, as he plows forward with pushing them into law. The Democrats are firing on all cylinders. Meanwhile Senate Republicans can’t make up their mind whether to get on board with Biden’s overwhelmingly popular COVID relief package, which will pass with or without their support.

The contrast between the two sides of the political aisle could not be greater right now. The Democrats are totally in control. The Republicans are in total chaos. This was all fairly predictable. The Republican Party bet everything on Trump getting a second term, which was always a long shot, and now it’s on the precipice of losing everything.
