Back in 2020, in an effort to address the issues related to mail in ballots and in an attempt to subvert the process, Trump nominated Louis DeJoy to be Postmaster General. As Slate noted in December, “the role of postmaster general usually doesn’t have a partisan tint: Most people who serve in the role are longtime postal employees.” The article concluded that DeJoy and the Board of Governors likely will be with us for some time, given the process.

Generally, that is true. But there is a question about whether the Board itself can be fired by the President “for cause.” This Board of Governors and DeJoy are dangerous to the future of the United States Post Office, and a strong argument can be made that DeJoy, who owns a Post Office competitor and has been a long time GOP donor, was an inappropriate hire for the position.
