Amid his disastrous Trumpcare bill, Donald Trump would really like to have this tweet back
The Senate version of the “Trumpcare” American Health Care Act has finally been revealed, after the Republican leadership had been keeping it so secret that even Republican Senators weren’t allowed to see it. Now we know why: it’s a calamitous disaster that would take health care away from tens of millions of Americans with no benefit for anyone but billionaires. And it officially confirms that Trump really screwed up when he bragged that he could improve upon ObamaCare.
Back in May of 2015, when Donald Trump was still running in the Republican primary race, and every Republican candidate was pathologically lying about Obamacare in order to gain favor with the most ignorant of voters among the ignorant Republican base, Trump tweeted the following: “I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. Huckabee copied me.”

That’s right, Trump insisted that he would never touch Medicaid. But as it turns out, his Trumpcare bill cuts Medicaid so severely that it’s tantamount to genocide. Trump’s plan would literally murder an untold number of low-income Americans. And this is after Trump conned low-income rural white Americans into voting for him by promising them he’d never touch their Medicaid. Now he’s trying a novel new political strategy by specifically murdering his own base. If you’ve read the bill, you know I’m not being even hyperbolic in my description of its impact.
The most distressing part here may be this: Donald Trump obviously lied about not cutting Medicaid. In the same breath he insisted he would never cut Medicare or Social Security either. At this point, that’s a pretty clear indication that for his next trick, he’ll drastically cut Medicare and Social Security so he can give that money to billionaires as well. Of course everyone knew he would do this, except the dummies who voted for him. Now it’s up to the rest of us to save them by defeating the Trumpcare monstrosity.
