Donald Trump’s parting middle finger to America

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We always knew Trump was doing everything he could to undermine the United States government. It’s been clear from the beginning that he was working for America’s biggest enemy: Vladimir Putin.

But now a new report from Politico paints an even more disturbing picture. It turns out that Trump has been placing right-wing operatives in career positions throughout the federal government.

By converting political appointees to permanent civil service employees, Trump and his henchmen have put in place the means to undermine Biden’s presidency starting on Day One.

The “burrowing” of right-wing ideologues by Trump has one specific goal: to position Republicans to take power in 2024. They believe if they can sabotage Biden they will be able to win the presidency back in four years.

According to POLITICO: “A higher-than-usual number of Trump administration political appointees — some with highly partisan backgrounds — are currently ‘burrowing’ into career positions throughout the federal government, moving from appointed positions into powerful career civil service roles, which come with job protections that will make it difficult for Biden to fire them.”

To help with his malicious plan Trump signed an executive order that allowed him to fill sensitive positions without proper oversight. The effect of this was “to allow political appointees circumvent the usual merit-based application process for career civil service jobs.”

So now, thanks to Trump, our new president will have to attempt to root out traitors from his administration on top of solving the economic crisis and the raging pandemic. And there is no guarantee he will be 100% successful. It’s hard to believe, but Trump’s presidency may turn out to be even worse than we thought it was.
