Melania Trump crashes and burns

Melania Trump has been an embarrassment from the start. She helped push her husband’s racist “birther” lies about President Obama several years ago. Once she became “First Lady” she refused to even pretend like she cared about the job. Last year she was caught on tape saying “Who gives a f— about Christmas stuff?” Now she’s going out in an even more embarrassing fashion.

Melania Trump just became the first modern First Lady not to give a tour to her successor, according to CNN. It’s not as if Dr. Jill Biden doesn’t already know her way around the White House. But Melania is nonetheless giving a final middle finger to America, to democracy, and to decency on her way out the door.

This comes even as Melania Trump’s approval rating has fallen into the low forties on her way out the door. This is startlingly low for a First Lady, as they generally leave office with an approval rating in the sixties due to their comparatively nonpartisan roles. It’s becoming more clear by the day that mainstream America has simply had enough of the Trumps.
