House Republican confirms he’s voting to impeach Donald Trump
For days there have been rumblings that as many as ten to twenty House Republicans will vote with the House Democrats to impeach Donald Trump this week. Sure enough, now the first House Republican is publicly committing to voting to impeach.
Republican Congressman John Katko is now telling Syracuse.com that he’s voting to impeach. His reasoning: “To allow the president of the United States to incite this attack without consequence is a direct threat to the future of our democracy.”
Now that the dam has broken, we’ll see which other House Republicans end up coming out in favor of impeachment. Normally they’d all be afraid to be the first one out of the gate, for fear Trump will retaliate against them on Twitter. But he no longer has a Twitter account, or any easy way of firing back at them effectively. So we’ll see. This comes shortly after Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell leaked that he’s in favor of impeachment.
