What does Mike Pompeo think he’s doing?
Donald Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is under the delusion that he’s going to run for President in 2024. The nonsense he’s spewing about Cuba and Shia Iran is aimed at making him look tough, so he can run on it in four years. I think it means nothing right now.
Pompeo is perhaps simply best ignored. There’s strong evidence that he committed serious crimes in Trump’s Ukraine scandal, so for all we know he’ll be in prison before 2024.
Even if Mike Pompeo avoids criminal prosecution, it’s difficult to imagine that someone who smells that strongly of Trump stench is somehow magically going to be a contender in 2024. Trump just lost by seven million votes, and his approval numbers are dropping even further in the wake of the Capitol attack. Those like Pompeo, are seen as deeply intertwined with Trump, are going to prove to be just as broadly unpopular.
