So many things are happening right now
Earlier this afternoon the U.S. State Department website bizarrely appeared to announce that Donald Trump was resigning tonight. Now the State Department claims it was merely the handiwork of a disgruntled employee. We’ll see. But it’s just one of many things that are playing out as we speak.
Historian Michael Beschloss, who tends to be reserved in his commentary, now says there are helicopters circling Vice President Mike Pence’s residence, something that Beschloss says never happens. Shortly after the helicopter incident, MSNBC reported that Pence had just arrived at the White house. It raises questions about whether something is in play with the 25th Amendment or not.
This comes even as the National Park Service has closed access to the Washington Monument, due to ongoing threats coming from Trump’s violent goons. And of course the Washington DC Attorney General just announced potential criminal charges against Trump for his incitement of the U.S Capitol domestic terrorist attack.
This is all on a day in which the House formally filed articles of impeachment against Trump, meaning he’ll be impeached for a second time, unless Pence invokes the 25th Amendment and removes him first. So many things are happening right now, it’s difficult to quite predict where we’ll be at the end of the day, let alone the end of the week. But one way or the other, this will end on January 20th with Trump out on his butt and eligible for arrest.
