Georgia officials point to criminal investigation against Donald Trump

Donald Trump is already more or less a lock to go to prison in New York State, where a widely documented grand jury is in the process of criminally indicting him on financial charges. But now Trump could find himself indicted in multiple states.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis are now publicly talking about a possible criminal investigation into Trump’s phone call to Raffensperger. This could result in criminal charges against Trump in Georgia, where he’d have to stand trial. Such charges couldn’t be pardoned by any President, just as the charges that Trump faces in New York can’t be pardoned by any President.

The bottom line is that Donald Trump is going to prison one way or the other. The big questions will be where he gets charged first, which jurisdictions will cover which crimes, and what order the trials will happen in. The rest of Trump’s life will consist of criminal trials and prison sentences.
