January 6th is going to be Christmas Day all over again – for our side

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Don’t you see what a gift this is? Some republicans are forcing other republicans to cast a (meaningless) vote about whether Biden really won, which we can then use against all of them in 2022. Imagine how stupid their protest vote is going to look in two years. Republicans are making a huge mistake. January 6th will be Christmas Day for us.

To give you an idea of how poorly January 6th is shaping up for the Republicans, Mitch McConnell held a conference call with Senate Republicans on Thursday and urged Josh Hawley not to go through with the stunt of holding such a vote. Hawley reportedly wasn’t even on the call, and McConnell was unwittingly pleading with no one.

If you want more evidence of how ugly January 6th could get for the Republicans, Mike Pence is now having the Justice Department intervene against the January 6th-related lawsuit filed by Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert. That’s right, Pence is trying to hide behind the DOJ to get out of being stuck in the middle of a meaningless symbolic vote.

While it would be easier if the Republicans would just call it a day and not other with their January 6th antics, it’s becoming clear that these antics are going to hurt them more than anyone. So be it.
