The most underreported aspect of Trump’s final days is the sheer extent of his tepid and confused indecisiveness. He has no earthly idea what he’s even trying to do.

Trump’s Pentagon people have floated at least four different excuses for it today. This gives away that it’s not some orchestrated plan, or else they’d have their story lined up in advance. Instead it comes across as a panic move, because they realized they were about to reveal some aspect of their corruption. Trump’s people don’t have the muscle to pull something like this off – they’ll cave – and now they’ve unwittingly given away what we should be looking for.
