The end of Vladimir Putin
As the full extent of Russia’s hack of U.S. agencies continues to become clear, President Biden is going to have to destroy Russia with every economic and punitive measure possible, until the Russian oligarchs finally get tired of losing money and decide to take Putin down themselves. But then Biden already knows that.
Come to think of it, you have to wonder if this is why Putin began leaking last month that he supposedly has a litany of health issues and is considering retiring. He seemed to be sending a clear signal to the oligarchs that he was willing to go peacefully, and they wouldn’t need to take him out.
At the time, Palmer Report figured that Putin was afraid the oligarchs would grow unhappy with him over the sanctions that Biden was about to put in place. Now those sanctions are going to be a whole lot uglier. Perhaps Putin knew by then that his hacks, carried out earlier in 2020, were about to be uncovered. Maybe that’s why he suddenly started talking about retiring when he did.
In any case, we’ll see if Putin can convince his oligarchs that the information he stole from the U.S. is so valuable, it’s worth the financial losses the oligarchs are about to incur from economic sanctions. Putin is savvy; maybe he comes out of this on top. But I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes right now. First he loses his puppet Trump, and now he gets caught in the hacking act at the worst possible time for him.
