Donald Trump’s sore loser antics have failed to magically overturn Joe Biden’s historic win. Instead, Trump has allowed Biden to relive his victories in swing states multiple times thanks to his frivolous lawsuits, all the while cementing his legacy as the world’s most famous crybaby. On top of all this, it’s now clear that Trump’s recent shenanigans are starting to backfire bigly.

Earlier this month, Fredric Eshelman, a North Carolina businessman, believed in Trump’s fantastical yarns. On November 5 and 13, Eshelman donated $2.5 million to True the Vote, a pro-Trump group that promised to file lawsuits to “expose suspected illegal balloting and fraud in the 2020 general election,” according to a lawsuit he filed against the organization on Wednesday.

Eshelman is now suing True the Vote for the return of his money after, as he alleges, they failed to produce results. Eshelman also claims that when he tried “regularly and repeatedly” to get updates from this organization, he was “consistently met with vague responses, platitudes, and empty promises of follow-up that never occurred,” according to the complaint.

While Eshelman ultimately saw through Trump’s B.S., plenty of his supporters still fervently believe all the wild claims of fraud. This has led many to become resigned to the idea that America’s voting system remains hopelessly rigged. Even though this must be the reaction Trump sought, it’s now also backfiring on him in an unusual way.

Speaking with Republican voters in Marietta, Georgia, on Saturday, Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel had her hands full trying to convince them to turn out the vote for Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue in the pivotal Senate runoff elections on January 5. After weeks of listening to Trump cry foul, many of these voters have become fatalistic, believing it’s pointless to get involved because, as they believe, all election results are fixed.

In one video shared by CNN’s Ryan Nobles, a voter asked why she should expend “money and work when it’s already decided.” Trying to balance keeping Trump’s fraud conspiracy theories alive while also encouraging GOP voters to participate in what may be a very close election that will decide who controls the Senate, McDaniel had to repeatedly assure the crowd, “It’s not decided!” Instead of a rousing and productive meet-and-greet session, the event wound up being a desperate plea to convince dubious Republican voters to stay involved.

This isn’t the first time we have seen Donald Trump’s actions boomerang in unexpected ways and blow up in his face. Trump is evil, but he is also a reckless buffoon who is flailing as he keeps realizing he can’t control the world. As November comes to a close, let’s remember it with gratitude as the month we succeeded in breaking Trumpism’s back. Real leadership is coming in a matter of days, and the world will soon get a chance to see what our side can do.
