Fox News cuts off Kayleigh McEnany’s press conference, acknowledges on air that she’s full of crap
For awhile now, Palmer Report has been predicting that once Donald Trump was finally on his way down, even Fox News would eventually end up making the selfish decision to throw him overboard. After all, Fox is a for-profit business that has to focus on retaining relative credibility with its audience, and not merely some pro-Trump cheerleading apparatus (except when that’s also profitable).
Sure enough, when Trump White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was holding a press conference today, she began making bizarre false claims about “illegal voting,” Fox News cut her off, and the anchor said “I can’t in good countenance continue to show you this.”
We award Fox News zero points for this, because it’s still allowing its more unhinged hosts like Sean Hannity to freely rant about imaginary election conspiracy theories. But it’s a big deal that even Fox is now trying to figure out how to insulate itself from the damage that Trump is doing to himself by pushing this “I secretly won the election” narrative. What Trump is about to learn the hard way is that his transactional allies like Fox News were never actually his friends.
