Trump administration in full collapse as Donald Trump fires Secretary of Defense Mark Esper
Even as Donald Trump was in the process of losing the election last week, his Secretary of Defense Mark Esper leaked that he was looking at resigning. It seemed to be a last ditch effort on Esper’s part at distancing himself from Trump. In any case, Trump went ahead and made it official today.
Trump just tweeted this: “I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately.. Chris will do a GREAT job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.”
Can you really “terminate” a guy who was already trying to resign? In any case, this isn’t part of some secret evil genius plan on Donald Trump’s part to magically win. Things are just unraveling.
After Joe Biden was declared the winner on Saturday morning, Palmer Report predicted that by the end of the weekend, Trump would probably start firing his own people in frustration. It looks like we were off a bit; it took until today for Trump to start doing that. No one will miss Esper – but who else will Trump fire next? He’s clearly unraveling.
