Secret Service shift tonight potentially points to imminent Joe Biden victory
It’s a waiting game tonight. Joe Biden has closed within 22,000 votes in Pennsylvania, and it’s now a matter of when and not if the media will call the state for him. When that happens, Biden will be over 270 electoral votes and will be declared the winner of the election. It’s just a matter of time. Not everyone is still waiting.
The Washington Post is reporting that as of half an hour ago, the Secret Service is “sending reinforcements” to Joe Biden’s house under the expectation that he could be declared the winner of the election.
Lawrence O’Donnell reacted to the news by tweeting this: “Secret Service sends in more agents when they know there is a winner. They never did this for John Kerry or Mitt Romney. The agents added to Biden’s security detail are the ones who will walk him into the Oval Office.”
He’s correct. This isn’t the kind of thing the Secret Service does – particularly while short handed during a pandemic – on a mere whim that Joe Biden could win. The agency has pretty clearly concluded that Biden will be named the winner within hours. Meanwhile MSNBC is hinting that it could all go down at around 4:00am eastern time.
