Donald Trump just blew it big time

Donald Trump’s gameplan for tonight’s debate was apparently to prove that he could not talk over Joe Biden the entire time, and still come off as a complete horse’s ass. Tonight was Trump’s last big chance to speak to a mainstream national audience, and he painted himself as being just as much of a racist, clueless thug as ever.

At one point Trump insisted that a certain segment of refugees have a “low IQ.” At another point he insisted that he wasn’t racist, and that he couldn’t see the audience because it was too dark. Trump claimed that Joe Biden is selling “pillows and sheets” to Russia, and no one has any idea what he was talking about. Trump couldn’t keep track of which Biden family member he was falsely accusing of being on the take.

Donald Trump needed to win this debate, and do it in a way that caused him to pick up a whole lot of votes that he didn’t already have. Instead, Trump pandered to his too-small base, and did it poorly. Trump is still running a 2016 gameplan in 2020, and he’s doing it more incoherently than ever. Joe Biden won this debate decisively, and Trump blew his last best chance big time.
