Rudy Giuliani has apparently not been texting with an Ivanka Trump impostor [UPDATED]
UPDATE, 6:22pm: Roberts now says that his purported tweets with Giuliani were “parody” and were not real. Seeing how he presented the tweets as being real, and how he’s the vice president of the College Democrats of Indiana, we don’t find this particularly funny. Original article below:
Now that Rudy Giuliani has been caught with his hand down his pants in the upcoming Borat movie, could his day find a way to get even weirder? Apparently the answer is yes, and it helps to reveal just how far gone Rudy’s gullible mind is.
It turns out Rudy Giuliani has been texting with Ivanka Trump for awhile now… except it’s not really Ivanka Trump. Nick Roberts, the vice president of the College Democrats of Indiana, apparently got ahold of Rudy’s cellphone numbers awhile back and began texting him, pretending to be Ivanka – and Rudy fell for it.
After today’s news broke, fake “Ivanka” texted Rudy and said, “Is the rumor that is circulating true?” In response Rudy texted, “There is some truth to the story, I am waiting to speak with your father about it.” Best we can tell, these texts are real, and David Freedlander from Politico also seems to think they’re real. Rachel Maddow also cited the text messages, adding “I can’t even.”
So this is where we’re at now. Rudy Giuliani is so far gone, he didn’t realize (or didn’t care) that the much younger woman who interviewed him, and then suddenly decided she wanted to go back to the hotel room with him, was obviously setting him up. And now Rudy is discussing the fallout from it with an impostor that he mistakenly thinks is Ivanka Trump. How much worse is this about to get for Rudy? Stay tuned.
