Donald Trump responds to UK incident by dishonestly attacking Mayor of London, then going golfing
In the moments after last night’s London Bridge attack, most world leaders responded in responsible fashion (link). But not Donald Trump, who retweeted innuendo from Drudge Report and then made a pitch for his racist Muslim ban. This morning, Trump made even more of a mess of things via his infamous Twitter account.
Trump woke up this morning and swiftly ripped into the Mayor of London:

The trouble, beyond the obvious fact that the President of the United States shouldn’t be publicly attacking the Mayor of London after a deadly attack in London, is that Trump made up the quote out of thin air. Mayor Sadiq Khan never said anything even similar to “no reason to be alarmed.” Instead you can find his full remarks (here). So now we have Trump lying about what the Mayor of London said in order to attack him. But it gets worse.
Trump is at his own golf resort in Virginia for the weekend, ignoring his White House duties as per usual. According to the pool report, after Trump finished lying about what the Mayor of London had said, he immediately hit the golf course (link). While there almost no sufficient words to describe this level of reckless and dishonest dereliction of duty on the part of Donald Trump, it doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise.
