The blowback against Mitch McConnell is already underway
Barely an hour after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away on Friday night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced his intention to fill her seat before the election. This is a craven, hypocritical, and deranged move. McConnell may also be bluffing, because he has no way of knowing yet whether he has enough votes to pull it off.
But even as we wait for the on-the-fence Republican Senators to each selfishly decide if they think confirming or not confirming is what’s personally best for their own political ambitions and reelection prospects, one thing is for sure: the blowback against Mitch McConnell is already fully underway.
