This smells of desperation

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3760 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.

Donald Trump is trying to frame things as Joe Biden attacking suburban life. It’s just more dog whistling and racist overtones from Trump. On Tuesday, Trump tweeted:

“Democrats admit that President Trump’s message is “working” on violence coming to the Suburbs in a Looney Biden Administration. Plus, Biden just doubled down on forcing Federal control of local zoning. This means low income housing and projects. So much for the American Dream … Sleepy Joe Biden has pledged to ABOLISH Suburban Communities as they currently exist by reinstating Obama’s radical AFFH Regulation. There goes Suburbia!”

The term, “There goes Suburbia,” is likely phrased and based on the urban slang, “There goes the neighborhood.” That usually refers to an ethnic group moving in and the current residents fretting about the perceived impact from the new residents.

The AFFH Regulation is something promulgated by President Obama, designed to require cities and towns which receive Federal money for any housing or urban development related purpose to examine whether there are any barriers to fair housing, housing patterns or practices that promote bias based on any protected class under the Fair Housing Act, and to create a plan for rectifying fair housing barriers. This racist fear mongering smells of desperation.
