Jeff Sessions and the Russian Ambassador may have met twice in one day during Donald Trump campaign

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If you’ve been paying attention all along, you’re well aware that Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak was conspicuously at Donald Trump’s first-ever foreign policy speech during the campaign at the Mayflower Hotel. If you’ve been paying closer attention, you know that Trump, Jeff Sessions, and other campaign advisers met with Kislyak at a private reception just before the speech – and then they all lied about it. Now it turns out that day may have involved even more Trump-Russia hijinks than previously known.

There’s a new report from CNN asserting that Jeff Sessions and the Russian Ambassador may have circled back and held a second, private meeting later that same day (link). The FBI is reportedly digging into the alleged second meeting as we speak. If it proves true, it’ll mean that Sessions not only lied under oath to the Senate about his Russian government contacts, he also lied when he later amended his testimony to include the Kislyak meetings.

It would also look incredibly suspicious. Jeff Sessions has been able to feebly cast a small amount of deniability about his Russian meetings. One of them took place in his office, so he claims it was merely part of his role as a Senator. The other was the small reception backstage at the Mayflower Hotel, which the participants can claim was incidental because it wasn’t a one-on-one meeting.

But if it turns out Jeff Sessions really did circle back and have a private meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak later that same day, after they’d met at the private reception, there will be no way for Sessions to even superficially frame that meeting as being harmless. Its only possible reason would have been to coordinate something secret between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Follow Palmer Report on Facebook and Twitter.
