Looks like Rod Rosenstein is going to prison for a long, long time

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We’ve all spent the past year and a half wondering why Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation, which came out of the gate very strongly, ended up not going anywhere. Why did Mueller ultimately not do his job? Did he fail us? Or was the guy who appointed him, then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, sabotaging Mueller all along? Now we’re getting a very ugly answer.

As it turns out, just days after Rosenstein appointed Mueller, Rosenstein secretly blocked Mueller from investigating Donald Trump’s financial ties to Russia – and he did it in such a way that the FBI was tricked into believing Mueller was investigating it. Accordingly, the FBI didn’t pursue its own investigation into Trump-Russia financial ties.

This is all according to stunning new reporting from the New York Times, which reveals that Rosenstein went extraordinarily far out of his way to obstruct justice. If Rosenstein had simply killed the probe, he could make a reasonable doubt argument that he didn’t think it was a valid investigation. But because he went out of his way to deceive and trick others within the Justice Department, it won’t be hard for a jury to conclude that Rosenstein was intentionally trying to obstruct justice.

Of course the current Trump-Barr DOJ isn’t going to allow obstruction of justice charges to be brought against Rod Rosenstein, or anyone else who has helped Donald Trump evade justice. But if Trump loses this election, it’s nearly a given that the DOJ will try to set things straight by charging Bill Barr with felony obstruction of justice. And based on what’s being reported today, it sure looks like Rod Rosenstein will face similar charges.
