Rachel Maddow just nailed this whole Kanye West – Donald Trump thing
Today we all learned what we all already suspected: Donald Trump-connected Republican operatives are behind the effort to get Kayne West on the ballot in the 2020 Presidential race. This has set off a round of controversy, furor, and – as always – fatalism on the part of some Resistance members who fear that Trump has finally managed to wave a magic wand when it comes to his reelection.
Fortunately, cooler heads are trying to prevail. For instance, during her MSNBC show tonight, Rachel Maddow reported on the GOP effort to get Kanye West on the ballot, before sarcastically remarking “Sure that might work, what else you got?” The point of course is that this is a desperate low-percentage play that’s unlikely to get Trump and the GOP anywhere.
Palmer Report would like to add that if this Kanye West stunt is the best plan that Donald Trump and the GOP have up their sleeve, then it’s clear that they don’t have any solid plans. Trump and his allies will keep trying to find ways to cheat in this election. But there are absolutely no magic wands in politics. This is still going to come down to which side is willing to work the hardest on things like voter registration and voter turnout, not silly stunts.
