Donald Trump sounds totally lost during disastrous press conference
Like a boxer who’s too far gone to realize he lost three rounds ago, Donald Trump keeps going out there each day and holding new idiotic press briefings. His public appearances just keep getting more embarrassing for him each time he goes out there.
Trump is only partway through his press conference today, but he’s already off to a pretty terrible start. When addressing today’s explosion in Beirut, he said that it “looks like a terrible attack.” This is a major faux pas, because the Lebanese government hasn’t even concluded that the explosion was an attack. If Trump is accusing Lebanon of lying about the explosion, then he’ll need to explain it a whole lot better than what he just mumbled.
Trump seems particularly off his game today. At one point he ended up saying “the, uh, virus, back to that,” as if he wasn’t even sure why he was out there to begin with. What’s remarkable is how much trouble Trump now has getting through prepared remarks that are right there in front of him. All he has to do is read aloud what his babysitters have written for him, and he can’t even do that anymore.
