Bill Barr is rattled

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The morning session of Bill Barr’s public testimony before the House Judiciary Committee has now concluded. There were no knockout blows, and not that many made-for-television moments. But the key takeaway is that certain Democrats on the committee have managed to get under Barr’s skin, leaving him rattled heading into the afternoon session.

Steve Cohen and Eric Swalwell in particular managed to fluster Bill Barr by focusing in on Barr’s illegal meddling in the sentencing of Donald Trump’s pal Roger Stone. They knocked Barr off his game and left him trying to blame everyone else but himself. It’s clear that the Stone case is a vulnerable spot for Barr, and the Democrats should focus in on it during the afternoon session. If Barr goes off script and admits something that makes him and/or Trump look bad, then Barr loses the day.
