The knives come out for Bill Barr
Attorney General Bill Barr is having a bad month in general, and a bad week in particular. He’s still on the defensive after having given the order to assault peaceful protesters outside the White House. Now his corrupt SDNY stunt has not only failed to produce the desired result, it’s put a proverbial target on him.
The New York City Bar Association is now gunning for Bill Barr, formally urging Congress to hold him accountable. This comes at a crucial time because last night House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler revealed that he’s subpoenaing Barr, and he plans to cut off DOJ funding until Barr replies. Nadler would only make such a threat if Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is on board with it.
Now the New York City Bar is weighing in at the perfect time for Nadler and Pelosi, handing them leverage in the court of public opinion as they prepare to take unprecedented steps in response to Bill Barr’s unprecedented corruption and obstruction.
For good measure, dozens of current and former faculty members of Bill Barr’s alma mater, George Washington University, are now calling for him to resign. The House is going to be able to pursue Barr roughly as aggressively as the majority of the public will support, so every little bit helps when it comes to the court of public opinion right now.
