Congressman Ted Lieu advises Rex Tillerson to lawyer up in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With Donald Trump’s Russia scandal growing deeper and wider by the day, and the investigation into it growing just as rapidly, the most relevant questions are now when Trump will go down for it and who will go down with him. Neither of those answers is entirely clear. But here’s what is becoming rather apparent: everyone currently working for Trump is rapidly becoming in danger of getting caught up in obstruction of justice as Trump himself tries and fails to orchestrate a coverup. Today that brings us to the subject of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Tillerson’s ties to the Russian government are well documented, but there’s no direct evidence yet that suggests his ties are illegal, or related to the Donald Trump campaign’s illegal alleged election collision with the Russians. But he’s nonetheless in danger of getting caught up in the illegal coverup.

Take a look at this tweet from Congressman Ted Lieu, who has a law degree and sits on the House Judiciary Committee, which he directed at Secretary of State Rex Tillerson:

Lieu’s message couldn’t be more clear. It’s time for Tillerson to decide how far down the Russia rabbit hole he wants to go on Trump’s behalf, and whether he wants to risk going down for obstruction of justice in the process.
