Donald Trump’s stooge Joni Ernst is in huge trouble
If a rising tide floats all boats, then Donald Trump is the dead weight anchor who is sinking all boats that are weighed down by him. Trump’s toxic unpopularity just keeps getting worse, and Senate Republicans are paying the price. Some of them are trying to incrementally distance themselves from Trump, but all of them (except Mitt Romney) voted to acquit Trump, and they’re not going to be able to shake that off.
As evidence of just how thoroughly the Republican Senators are tied to Donald Trump’s fate, a new poll says that GOP Senator Joni Ernst is now three points behind Democratic candidate Theresa Greenfield. This is just one poll, and three points is basically within the margin of error. But at this stage of a Senate race, with Ernst having years of built-in name recognition in Iowa, and Greenfield still putting herself on the map, the incumbent should be ahead, not behind.
Theresa Greenfield has only officially been the Democratic nominee for ten days, and she’s now in position to widen her lead over Ernst. If the Democrats win the Senate seat in Iowa, it’ll probably mean they’ll take the Senate majority. You can donate to Greenfield’s campaign at this link.
