Secret Service just changed its story about Donald Trump’s assault on protesters
When Donald Trump and Bill Barr gave the order to assault the peaceful protesters outside the White House so they could do a photo op, it ended up receiving such widespread backlash that they’ve been trying to lie their way out of it ever since. For instance, Barr claimed that no chemicals were used on the protesters.
At the time, the Secret Service issued a statement asserting that none of its agents used tear gas or pepper spray during the incident. But the Secret Service is correcting the record and confirming that it did use pepper spray;

.
Of course this still doesn’t appear to be the full story. There is no known record of any “assaultive individual” among the protesters. And reporters say they found tear gas canisters on the ground after the fiasco, so where did they come from? In any case, this statement appears to be closer to the truth. The Secret Service is a respectable agency that does honorable work, but Trump’s maniacal corruption is even dragging them into the fray.
Bill Barr has already spent the past week mounting what sounds a lot like a reasonable doubt defense, presumably because if Trump loses, Barr expects to end up on criminal trial for giving the order to assault the protesters. Now the Secret Service is poking holes in Barr’s defense, as everyone involved with the fiasco continues to try to cover for themselves.
