Donald Trump goes to hell
After Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military to fire tear gas on peaceful protesters last night so he could have a photo op outside St. John’s church, he faced criticism from all sides – including from the Bishop who’s in charge of the entire Episcopal Church.
But this didn’t deter Trump. Today he visited a memorial for Pope John Paul II, and it earned him rebuke from the region’s Catholic Bishop as well. We all know why Trump is doing this. The polls say that he’s incrementally losing the support of conservative “evangelical” Christians, so he’s lining up arbitrary religious stunts in a desperate effort to win them back.
That may or may not work, but it’s irrelevant. The evangelicals alone aren’t even close to being large enough in number to reelect Trump on their own. Nor is Trump’s entire base large enough to reelect him. His problem is that he’s losing the people in the middle, who were never quite sure what to make of his spectacle, but are finally deciding that they’ve had enough.
