Joe Biden has written a beautiful piece for Medium called “We are a nation furious at injustice.” This is the discussion that a nation in turmoil needs, not having the flames fanned to burn even higher. That behavior is what “president” Donald Trump lives for, and his supporters love it. While Trump continues to make things worse with his non-action and inflammatory tweets, Biden gives us a message of hope. In fact, hope seems to be coming from all sides.

Instead of donning himself in combat gear and demanding the protestors go home, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson joined them. Swanson told the crowd that he and the other police officers with him “love you. You tell us what you need to do” and suggested that instead of a protest, they have a parade. The crowd began chanting “walk with us,” and off they went. This was a beautiful moment created by an officer who knew how to handle the situation. This is how we acknowledge the pain surrounding these senseless murders and find a way to change things.

Another ray of hope came courtesy of former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, who believes we have heard the final nail in the coffin of the Trump “presidency.” He wrote a piece for the Guardian called “Fire, pestilence and a country at war with itself: The Trump presidency is over.” This quote says it all: “A pandemic unabated, an economy in meltdown, cities in chaos over police killing. All our supposed leader does is tweet.” Trump has checked out. As has been his practice throughout his “presidency,” when the going gets tough, Trump plays golf. Yet, he believes he deserves a second term. Only if that term is spent in hell—the same hell that we have been living these past three and a half years. If we can just hang onto our hope, things are going to change.

Biden has widened his lead over Trump to ten points nationwide in one new poll, further confirming his current lead in every major poll. The bad news is that Trump’s supporters are supposedly more “enthusiastic.” Look, it does not matter if Biden was your first choice. What matters is getting the insolent child out of our White House. The differences between Biden and Trump are stark. According to CNN, George Floyd’s brother Philonise Floyd said that when Trump called, he would not even allow him to speak. Joe Biden’s call was completely different. Floyd said that he “poured his heart out” to Biden, asking for justice for his brother. When asked about his call with Trump, Floyd said, “I was trying to talk to him, but he just kept, like, pushing me off, like ‘I don’t want to hear what you’re talking about.’” Typical Trump. Likely, he found some way to make the conversation about himself.

If Joe Biden the man fails to get you excited, then think about “president” Trump and what he brings to our world: chaos. The only thing that can start both healing and change is getting this man out of the White House.
