Here comes Donald Trump’s deranged meltdown about Mitt Romney
In the three and a half hours since President Obama finished giving his nationally televised commencement speech, Donald Trump hasn’t tweeted a darned thing. Maybe he passed out in a tub of self pity, or maybe he threw a jealous tantrum and broke his phone.
Either way, once Trump gets his phone back, one of his first targets will surely be Republican Senator Mitt Romney, who tweeted this on Saturday evening:
The firings of multiple Inspectors General is unprecedented; doing so
without good cause chills the independence essential to their purpose. It is a threat to accountable democracy and a fissure in the constitutional balance of power.— Senator Mitt Romney (@SenatorRomney) May 16, 2020
.
Yeah, that’s going to make Donald Trump pretty angry, considering that firing these people is a major component of his increasingly hallucinatory reelection strategy. Of course other GOP Senators such as Chuck Grassley are also publicly condemning Trump over these firings, but Trump needs Grassley, and he knows Grassley isn’t going to follow up on it anyway. So Trump will lash out at Romney instead.
