Donald Trump just made his mask scandal even worse
Yesterday Donald Trump toured a mask making factory, while refusing to wear a mask himself. This set off a round of controversy – particularly after Mike Pence just got done having his own week long scandal for refusing to wear a mask at a hospital. Throw in the fact that “Live and Let Die” was playing in the factory while Trump was going around potentially infecting everyone, and the whole thing was nothing short of surreal.
Now Donald Trump has gone and made the whole thing even worse, by claiming that he was wearing a mask. No really, he said this. NBC News is reporting that Trump told reporters today that he did have a mask on “for a period of time” and that “I can’t help it if you didn’t see me, I mean, I had a mask on.”
Wow. We’re not even sure where to start. Is Trump trying to claim that he was only wearing a mask during the portion of the tour where reporters weren’t allowed? If so, then he’s admitting that he’s so vain, he’s only willing to wear a mask when no cameras are going to capture him. Or is Trump truly trying to convince reporters that he was wearing a mask right in front of them, and they just imagined he wasn’t wearing one?
In any case, even if Donald Trump was wearing a mask at some point for the tour, his rationale doesn’t hold water. Multiple reporters who were on-site at the factory posted photographic proof that there was a sign saying masks were required in the area. So why did he take his mask off? We’re really left to wonder if he’s reached the point of senility where he’s hallucinating.
