Did New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman just tweet a veiled threat at Donald Trump?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is one of the relatively few public figures who has been able to consistently bring legal consequences down on Donald Trump’s head. He forced Trump to pay up over his fake Trump University. He’s still ripping the fake Trump Foundation to shreds. And sources have Schneiderman pursuing a RICO case against Trump (link).

So in the wake of Trump firing FBI Director Comey in a rather blatant attempt at sabotaging the federal investigation into Trump’s dealings with Russia, it’s not surprising to see AG Schneiderman firing back at Trump over it. He’s been pushing back via Twitter for days. But then this evening, Schneiderman tweeted the following:

“When they go low, we go local. Get involved in your community. Pay attention to your state legislatures. Organize your neighbors. Speak up” (link). Of course there are various ways to interpret this tweet. On some level he is indeed merely pushing local involvement in government. But go back and read that first sentence again.

It’s obviously a play on Michelle Obama’s campaign slogan for “When they go low, we go high.” But it’s also a seeming reference to Trump taking the low road of firing James Comey to sabotage the federal investigation. And the “we go local” part sounds a lot like Eric Schneiderman threatening to take down Donald Trump on a more local (in this case state) level, even after Trump tried to kill the investigation at the federal level.
