Another one bites the dust

Every once in awhile we see a Democratic politician or pundit who opportunistically tries to get ahead by embracing Donald Trump. It never ends up going well for that person. The latest to try it was Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones, who set off a firestorm last week by endorsing Trump.

Things quickly got so ugly for Vernon Jones, his name began trending on Twitter, as he was widely condemned for climbing into bed with Donald Trump. Now the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Vernon Jones won’t seek reelection, and is in fact resigning immediately as of today. This puts Democratic candidate Rhonda Taylor in position to likely win the seat that Jones is vacating.
