Donald Trump’s nightmare press briefings are about to be made even worse by Bill Barr

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $2097 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Because the last several of them haven’t gone disastrously enough, Donald Trump has decided to hold yet another daily coronavirus press briefing later today. These events have generally served as an opportunity for Trump to insult reporters, whine like a baby, and hand out dangerously false information. Turns out today’s briefing will be even worse.

The White House has announced that Donald Trump will have Bill Barr with him during today’s press briefing. What relevance could the Attorney General possibly have at a coronavirus briefing? For that matter, what could the most criminally corrupt Attorney General in American history have to say at the briefing?

Bill Barr recently leaked to the press that he’s hoping to use the coronavirus crisis as an excuse to waive certain civil rights. This is one of those things that he absolutely, positively cannot magically make happen. Barr has turned out to be such a toothless bumbler, he couldn’t even figure out how to get a grand jury to indict Andrew McCabe, let alone magically institute martial law or some other fantasy. But it’s the kind of scary doomsday threat that paralyzes people, and distracts them from fighting against the corrupt things that Trump is actually doing.

While we could end up hearing Bill Barr trying to hint that he’s going to wave a doomsday magic wand today, he could just as easily use the press briefing to address the fact that the coronavirus has begun spreading in prison. We’ll see. Either way, today’s press briefing will be at least as much of a mess as the last one.
