Harvey Weinstein reportedly has coronavirus

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Convicted rapist and serial sexual assaulter Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for the coronavirus, and has now been moved into an isolation ward in prison, according to a leak to local newspaper. Weinstein has been widely accused of faking or exaggerating various ailments during his trial in an effort to gain sympathy. But there’s no way he could fake a coronavirus test result, of course.

This piece of crap deserves whatever happens to him; we’re not even going to bother wishing him well. But this news, first reported by CNHI newspapers and since passed on by the Daily Beast, is disturbing in the sense that the very last thing we need is a coronavirus outbreak in the prison system.

Notably, Harvey Weinstein was just transferred from jail to state prison three days ago, meaning there’s a good chance he caught it before he was transferred. Thus far only Weinstein and one other inmate have tested positive. Hopefully this has been contained and won’t spread. An outbreak in prison would be incredibly dangerous, and would require significant resources to try to contain it. Some cities including Baltimore are now making an effort to incarcerate as few additional people as possible.
