Screw you Mitch McConnell

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell sent the Senate out for a three day weekend instead of remaining in session, he blew off any opportunity to promptly pass the bipartisan coronavirus emergency legislation that was in the works. Sure enough, the House and the Treasury hammered out such a deal, and now we’ve all had to wait for McConnell to hold a vote on it today. Except, nope, McConnell still didn’t hold a vote on it today.

This isn’t just irresponsible, it’s criminal. Americans are already dying from the coronavirus. The emergency legislation is aimed at providing immediate relief in a number of ways. By dragging his heels, Mitch McConnell has likely ensured that the virus will spread further, and that more people will die, than would have otherwise been the case.

Mitch McConnell must absolutely be voted out in the November election, where he’s up against Democratic candidate Amy McGrath. Then McConnell must be held criminally liable for his refusal to hold this vote in a timely fashion. At this point it’s easy to conclude that McConnell is stalling on purpose, for reasons that can only be corrupt in nature.
