Donald Trump is scared

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump held yet another disastrous coronavirus conference today, in which he couldn’t give a single answer that was of any real value to anyone. That said, this time around it was different. There was a whole change in the nature of Trump’s babbling.

For the first time in probably his entire political existence, Donald Trump insisted today that the media is being “very fair.” He also took a pass on an opportunity to attack one of the people he hates most, Amazon and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos. Trump admitted we’re probably heading into a recession, and he pessimistically said he fears the coronavirus crisis might not be over until July or August.

This raises the question of what happened. Just this morning, Trump was taking cheap shots at New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Twitter. Now, this afternoon, Trump has clearly become scared. Sure, he bizarrely gave himself a ten out of ten for his handling of the crisis, but for the most part this wasn’t the usual Trump today, or even the recent Trump. It was some other new variant of Trump, who’s spooked enough to go so far as to try to make nice with the media.

Considering how horribly and dishonestly he’s botched this, and how many Americans are going to die as a result of his negligence, we award Donald Trump no points for anything he said today. Besides, he’ll probably be back to viciously attacking people by tomorrow; it’s his nature. But something must have happened between this morning and this afternoon that truly shook him. His suspicious answer about his own supposed coronavirus test could be a clue.
